Day 1:About Me
First of all Erendira is very rare but unique name. I was named after an Aztec Princess, and my name means the one with the smile. I was born in Michoacan, Mexico. My parents struggled to raised eight children. I was very lucky that unlike my older siblings, I immigrated to the United States at a younger age. I was only nine years old and I was able to get an education. I take school very serious and I believe that education is the key to success in this country. I'm a very energetic and talkative person. I tend to always try to be active and share during group discussions. People describe me as loud, funny, and as a very open person. Everything I do, I do it with a purpose, I like to help individuals that are younger than me. Many of them see me as a leader and I try my best to do positive stuff, because I want them to see me as a role model. I like to participate and volunteer at my school. Graduating from college is my long term goal, and I'm trying very hard to accomplish my dream. I would like to thank all the people that made it possible for me to come to Oregon State and spend this week learning and meeting new people.
Day 2: Challenge Course
The challenge course was a great experience. I had never tried doing nothing similar, but I enjoyed it. I was very nervous and even scared about getting on the zip-line, but I overcame my fear and tried every single obstacle. This was a great way to help students overcome their fears for heights. It also gave me the opportunity to work with my brother and accomplished to make it to the top of the ladder. It was super fun and exciting. He help me to get all the way up and that meant a lot to me.
